Small scale solar powered cycles offer potential for exploiting renewable energy sources with a reasonable cost, environment friendly and adaptable operation. In order to enhance their overall efficiency, each of the cycles' components, for example compressor, expander and the solar heater needs to be separately enhanced. The aims of this special issue of this journal is to solicit newly high-quality, novel, and mature work that meets the standard of a journal paper. Such researches will surely enhance the solar energy as a main source in sustainable energy sources, reduces the depending on the fossil fuels and as a result decreases the greenhouse effect. Journal Notice: Vibration based piezoelectric micro energy harvesters as an alternative power sources to conventional battery based systems |
|
Providing a green, virtually infinite alternative power source to traditional energy sources will significantly expand applications for WSNs and other technologies. The use of piezoelectric materials to capitalize on the ambient vibrations surrounding a system is one method that has seen a dramatic rise in the use for power harvesting. Most of the works found in literature are different in their structures and vibration frequencies, and only few of them have focused on power harvesting under both low frequency and acceleration applications. With the development of industrial communities and ever-increasing demand for energy, the consumption of fossil fuels has increased significantly, which intensifies the concerns associated with limited nature of the sources of such energy. With the increase in the demand for energy and limited nature of the sources of fossil fuels and also concerns about climate changes, upgrading and optimizing the energy-converting and energy-consuming facilities are inevitable. SOLAR photovoltaic (PV) panels are used to harness the solar energy and convert solar energy into electricity. The PV installations can produce power in the range of a few Watts to a few hundred Mega Watts. This enables the use of the PV panels in systems having varied power demands. Additionally, the PV panels can also be placed easily on roof-tops of houses, offices, or buildings due to various factors including easy installation and low maintenance. These PV panels do not require additional space within the buildings. The Lead Guest Editor Sreedhar Madichetty |
