Research on Optimization of "Deoxidation Alloying" of Molten Steel Based on Linear Programming

    by Anna Li, Dongqing Xu

    Insight - Material Science, Vol.3, No.1, 2020; 427 Views, 18 PDF Downloads

Aiming at the optimization of the supporting solution for molten steel "deoxidation alloying", the cost of "deoxidation alloying" is minimized from an economic perspective. Using Excel, Eviews and spss software programming, through factor analysis, clustering dimension reduction, principal component analysis Multiple linear regression analysis and linear programming optimization analysis, the author found out the main factors that affected the yield of alloy elements. This paper establishes a multiple linear regression mathematical model that affects the main factors of alloy elements and yield. According to the reference alloy price, the linear programming model is adopted to find the optimal solution of alloy ingredients.

Thermal Conductivities of PZT Piezoelectric Ceramics under Different Electrical Boundary Conditions

by Husain N.  Shekhan, Erkan A.  Gurdal, Lalitha Ganapatibhotla, Janna K.  Maranas, Ron Staut, Kenji Uchino

Insight - Material Science, Vol.3, No.1, 2020; 855 Views, 20 PDF Downloads, 0 The Effect of Electrical Boundary Conditions on the Thermal Properties of Ferroelectric Piezoelectric Ceramic Downloads

Physical properties of polycrystalline lead-zirconate-titanate (PZT) changes according to electrical boundary conditions and poling. This paper reports the thermal properties of poled and unpoled PZT's in the poling direction for open circuit and short circuit conditions. The authors found that the short-circuit condition exhibited the largest thermal conductivity than the open-circuit condition. In the relationship between these two thermal properties, the authors propose the "electrothermal" coupling factor k κ 33 , which is similar to the electromechanical coupling factor k 33  relating the elastic compliances under short- and open-circuit conditions. On the other hand, the thermal conductivity of the unpoled specimen exhibits the lowest thermal conductivity, in comparison with the poled specimens, which suggests the importance of phonon mode scattering on the thermal conductivity with respect to elastic compliance.

Research Progress and Future Trend of Space Materials Science

    by Jiawei Yang

    Insight - Material Science, Vol.3, No.1, 2020; 484 Views, 33 PDF Downloads

Space materials science is an interdisciplinary field formed by the integration of materials science and space technology. It originated from the space exploration experiment in the mid-20th century and gradually grew into materials with the rapid development of manned spaceflight. Science is a relatively complete branch discipline. China is about to usher in its own space station era, thus providing a broader prospect for this new discipline. In this paper, the main research progress in four aspects, including physical and chemical characteristics of space environment, liquid properties and phase transition dynamics of materials under space conditions, kinematics of preparation and forming process of space materials, and regulation and control of material organization and properties in space environment, has been systematically summarized, and the future development trend of this discipline has been analyzed and prospected.

A Comparison on the Voltage Output of Al-Cu Primary Battery with its Electrolyte being Coca Cola With and Without Sugar

    by Yantong Li

    Insight - Material Science, Vol.3, No.1, 2020; 650 Views, 33 PDF Downloads

For the primary battery, different electrolyte will affect the voltage output of the battery. In this paper, the influence of sugar on the output voltage was studied by taking Coca Cola as an example. The results show that there is a certain difference between the effect of electrolyte with and without sugar, but the specific reason is not clear, because the formula of beverage is a secret. Further experiments are needed to draw a conclusion.
