Economic and environmental impact of nuclear energy generation
The Introduction of the Special Issue
The usage of green energy sources increases the energy security because it brings extensive socio-economic benefits. Nuclear power is one of the lowest emitters of greenhouse gases available to generate electricity among other energy sources. In fact, in order to control carbon dioxide emissions and associated climate change, the whole world must rapidly reduce its dependency on fossil fuels as oil, natural gas and coal. This substitution has economic consequences.
Does nuclear generation is cost competitive with other forms of electricity generation ?
