Big data and cloud computing are the trending terms in the Information Technology world both proving to be the most significant shifts in the modern era. The terms have also grown popular among business owners, researchers in order to improve the existing technologies at a better place. Big data is not only a term used to refer to the big volume of data but also used to mean a refreshing way of gathering, storing, organizing and analyzing numerous types of data. Cloud computing provides fundamental support to address the challenges with shared computing resources including complex computing, storage, networking and analytical software; the application of these resources has fostered impressive Big Data advancements. Both of these progressions are not limited to a particular field anymore, thus opening doors for any number of inter-disciplinary opportunities. Cloud computing and big data, while still in constant evolution, are proving to be the ideal combination for the future. This special issue focuses on big data processing, analysis, and understanding that support sustainable environments.

Submitted articles should not be published or under review elsewhere. All submissions will be subject to the journal’s standard peer review process. Criteria for acceptance include originality, contribution, scientific merit and relevance to the field of interest of the Special Issue.
