On the Mutual Construction of Caravan Culture and Group Identity

    by Yunzhi Xia

    Insight - Information, Vol.4, No.1, 2022; 110 Views, 6 PDF Downloads

Horse caravan is one of the most important part of the tea-horse trade in Southwest China. Due to the geographical conditions and the need to maintain their livelihood, natives spontaneously developed such a mode of transportation. This not only promoted the exchange of commodities in southwestern Yunnan and Tibet border areas, but also became one important channel for foreign trade and cultural exchanges with neighboring countries in Southeast Asia. The long-distance trek and the steep terrain with various emergencies determine that this form of transportation will not be an individual activity. The horse caravan group formed with the common business purpose extends the personal relationship from blood to geo-industry relationship. The social network of the industry has established an invisible dense network between individuals and groups. In the common taboo beliefs, lingoes and folk literature, have strengthened members' affiliation with the caravan group, which in turn constructs subjective force behind the successful operation of this industry.

User-Centered Intelligent Interface of Vending Machines Modeling

    by Yige Gao, Yuanyuan Ge

    Insight - Information, Vol.4, No.1, 2022; 96 Views, 4 PDF Downloads

Convenience and speed of service makes vending machines popular world-wide. However, the development and use of vending machines in China have not kept pace with global markets. In this paper, in order to determine the key design factors, interface elements and parameters which affect the convenience of user-machine interaction, the author analyzes the interaction problems in current vending machine design and finds out that unreasonable design results from machine-centered logic design. Then, with user-centered design principles, a new user-centered intelligent interaction model of vending machines is developed. The result of the test shows that the user-centered interface system can effectively reduce the operational time and decrease the mistake type and mistake rate. The process followed in the present study can also serve as a general framework for the analysis and development of UCD interfaces for other self-service systems.

Identification is an effective means of investigation, but in judicial practice, the error rate is high, easy to lead to wrong or false convictions. The main causes of misidentification are external suggestions, witness's own psychological pressure, perceptual deviation and witness's recognition ability. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt double-blind procedures, standardize the inquiry mechanism before identification, reduce the psychological burden of witnesses, and select the appropriate way of presentation to reduce the influence of suggestion and pressure.

The Construction of China’s International Image of a Major Country with a Sense of Responsibility in Diplomatic Discourse

    by Renmin Wang

    Insight - Information, Vol.4, No.1, 2022; 303 Views, 23 PDF Downloads

In recent years, China’s comprehensive national strength has been strengthened and its international status has been enhanced. As a result, China urgently needs to construct and perfect its own discourse system, and establish a good international image. The international image of a country is an important embodiment of its national image, which comes from “self-presentation” on the one hand, and “evaluation by others” on the other. These two aspects of communication mostly rely on the transmission of various diplomatic activities. Therefore, international image is also the product of the construction of diplomatic discourse. By collecting and sorting out 30 texts of Chinese diplomatic discourse from 2018 to 2021, a corpus was established to form the research object. At the same time, with the help of Fairclough’s three-dimensional discourse analysis method, the construction of the international image of China as a “major country” in diplomatic discourse is deeply analyzed from three dimensions of text analysis, discourse production background and process, and social influence. The analysis reveals that China constructs this international image from three main aspects: promoting global economic development, adhering to the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind, and maintaining the international order. Meanwhile, through the analysis of the way and process of China’s construction of this international image, the rules can be grasped, and then it can help people better understand the analysis of diplomatic discourse.
